Omotola’s international strides rekindle cold war with Genevieve

It is very difficult to become a successful actor in Nigeria’s Nollywood. It is however much, much more difficult to become successful in America’s Hollywood, movie capital of the world. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, having achieved all there is to achieve in Nollywood, has set her sights on Hollywood.

She is trying to become successful in it and has been taking the steps to help her achieve her laudable aim. The most noteworthy step she’s taken is to align herself with entertainment agents in America who will help her realise the ambition. Since joining forces with the agents, she has been getting the necessary international publicity that will give her the visibility she needs to be reckoned with by international movie and TV producers.

It was alleged recently that it was her agents who got her on the TIME 100  Most Influential People In The World list. Though she refused to confirm or deny the claim to Entervaganza, the honour led to her being seen as Nollywood’s best, a title which has been in contention between her and Genevieve Nnaji for years.

Such was their believed battle for the title that it was widely claimed that they were not on good terms, despite the fact that they even co-starred in some movies. Ibinabo Fiberesima, president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, was said to have settled their cold war, a claim she also refused to deny or confirm to Entervaganza. Nevertheless, after Ibinabo’s alleged intervention, they were finally spotted in a really friendly manner hugging publicly at Omotola’s birthday party.

But when AGN celebrated Omotola’s TIME 100 honour, Genevieve didn’t attend the party and tongues immediately started wagging again that the duo had returned to their former cold war status as Genny is not pleased by Omotola’s TIME 100 honour which people say has made it obvious that Omotola is Nollywood’s best. As it is right now, Omotola has appeared on the cover of the UK’s Sunday Telegraph Stella magazine and she was described as the queen of Nollywood. So tongues are wagging again that she has one more again over Genevieve.

Though Genny has also been receiving some mention in international media circles, Omotola’s are more pronounced presently. Omosexy’s picture on the Stella cover wasn’t really flattering, however, compared to those that led to her being known as Omosexy, and she was further described as the biggest film star you’ve never heard of, a description that people don’t see as complimentary, just like Ice Prince was presented backstage with his BET award in America instead of on stage.
